President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has enacted the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to impose sanctions on individuals and legal entities involved in the production and supply of communications, electronic warfare (EW) and microelectronics for the Russian military-industrial complex. The corresponding decree No. 8/2026 was signed and published by the president, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The sanctions list includes 85 people and 70 companies
The sanctions list includes 95 individuals and 70 legal entities, most of whom are citizens and residents of the Russian Federation. There are no prominent politicians, top managers of state corporations or oligarchs among them. Rather, they are executives, managers, or related parties who are not public figures.
“Sanctions have been imposed against industrial enterprises in the chemical, mining, metallurgical, and fuel and energy sectors of the Russian Federation,” the Presidential Office of Ukraine said in a statement on its website.
It is noted that the new sanctions should complicate the maintenance of the Russian military-industrial complex and limit its ability to produce weapons and military equipment used in the war against Ukraine.
The sanctions include blocking assets, suspension of financial transactions, prohibition of capital withdrawal, revocation of licenses, and other restrictions. Their implementation is to be ensured by the Cabinet of Ministers, the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Bank of Ukraine and other competent authorities.
Some of the positions, the Prosecutor General’s Office added, will be taken into account in the formation of the 20th package of EU sanctions, which is currently being prepared.
the 20th package of EU sanctions against Russia
The EU plans to approve the 20th package of sanctions against Russia on the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. According to Brussels diplomats, Russian energy companies and vessels belonging to the so-called Russian shadow fleet may be targeted.
