Ukraine has declared its support for the Iranian people amid escalating tensions in the region and accused the regime in Tehran of terrorism and repression. The Foreign Ministry has called on Ukrainians to leave Iran immediately due to security threats.
This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga, according to RBC-Ukraine, citing his remarks during a press conference, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to Sibiga, Kyiv’s position is clear and consistent: the regime in Tehran terrorizes not only its own people but also the entire region. The minister stressed that the Iranian authorities finance terrorism and militants who bring instability to other countries.
“We are always on the side of the Iranian people. The people themselves. Years of systematic human rights violations, brutal repression, and executions testify to the deep internal crisis in this country,” the foreign minister said.
He also stressed that Tehran had every opportunity to avoid a forceful scenario, as it had been given numerous chances to resolve conflicts diplomatically.
Warning for Ukrainians
Due to the growing threat, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued advance recommendations to its citizens.
Ukrainians are urged to leave Iran and other countries in the region where their lives and safety may be at risk.
Israeli and US strikes on Iran
The situation in the Middle East escalated after Israel launched a preemptive strike against Iran to neutralize military threats. In response, Tehran carried out a missile attack on Israeli territory, leading to the declaration of a state of emergency in the country.
Some time later, US President Donald Trump confirmed that Israel’s operation against Iran was being carried out with the participation of the United States. He stated that the decision to launch the operation was dictated by the need to eliminate “imminent threats” from Iran.
Later, Iran launched retaliatory strikes against Israel and also attacked US military facilities in Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, and Kuwait.
