Ukrainian officials in Paris discussed the ceasefire and security guarantees with their counterparts from the UK, Germany and France.
This was reported by the head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, "Komersant Ukrainian".
The talks at the Elysee Palace were attended by representatives of the countries that are part of the “coalition of the willing”: diplomatic adviser to the French President Emmanuel Bonn, national security adviser to the British Prime Minister Jonathan Powell, and national security adviser to German Chancellor Jens Plötner.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said.
“We discussed further steps to achieve a just and sustainable peace. In particular, we coordinated positions on the implementation of a complete ceasefire, the involvement of a multinational military contingent and the creation of an effective security architecture for our country,” Umerov wrote on Facebook.
In addition, Umerov added that work on security guarantees together with our partners continues. Our priority is to achieve a result that will guarantee a lasting peace for Ukraine and Ukrainians.
Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga said.
“We discussed ways to a just and lasting peace, including a complete ceasefire, a multinational contingent and security guarantees for Ukraine,” Sybiga wrote in X.
The parties also exchanged views on steps to achieve a just and lasting peace, including the implementation of a full ceasefire, the deployment of a multinational military contingent, and the development of an effective security architecture for Ukraine.
Yermak called the conversation “very meaningful.”
A few days ago, on April 15, a meeting of the “coalition of the willing” on security in the Black Sea was held in Turkey. Representatives of Ukraine, France, the United Kingdom, and Turkey were present at the negotiating table.
The Ukrainian delegation is also scheduled to meet with representatives of the United States, who are currently in France.
What is the “coalition of the willing”?
In March, Ukraine’s partners created the “coalition of the willing” to protect and guarantee peace in Ukraine. Each member country of the coalition will decide how much to contribute.
It is expected that the “coalition of the willing” will be able to send a peacekeeping contingent to Ukraine. According to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the number of Western troops will be “more than 10,000.” Most likely, the bulk of these forces will consist of troops from the UK and France.
on April 10, European defense ministers attended new talks of the “coalition of the willing,” which united about 30 countries. After the meeting, AFP reported that six countries, including the UK, France, and the Baltic states, were ready to deploy their troops to Ukraine.
