Ukraine forced to impose entry restrictions on Israeli citizens – ambassador

The state of Ukraine has been forced to impose entry restrictions on Israeli citizens, including pilgrims, in response to changes in the rules for Ukrainian citizens entering Israel. This was stated in a statement by Ukrainian Ambassador Yevhen Korniychuk, reported on the embassy’s Facebook page , Kommersant Ukraina 
reports.
“Since 1 July, citizens of countries with visa-free regime with Israel, including Ukraine, must apply for an ETA-IL permit for a stay of up to 90 days. This requirement effectively nullifies the visa-free regime. In response, Ukraine will introduce similar pre-approval requirements for Israeli citizens, particularly pilgrims,” the statement said.
The ambassador emphasised that official Kiev is now considering the specifics of these e-visas.
“This mutual action will affect thousands of religious pilgrims who visit Uman every year,” he added.
At the same time, Korniychuk stressed that Ukraine remains open to dialogue with Israel “to discuss and negotiate these changes to the travel policy to the benefit of both countries.”
