Ukrainian Maria Sur makes it to the final of the Swedish national selection for Eurovision 2024

What do you know about Ukrainian singer Maria Sur?
Maria Sur was born on 31 December 2004 in Zaporizhzhia. Since childhood, she has had a talent for singing and has participated in a number of song competitions. She became quite famous in Ukraine after participating in the 12th season of The Voice. There, she joined Nadiya Dorofeeva’s team, but later moved to Olga Polyakova’s team.
on 24 February 2024, Maria was in her hometown, where she spent the first two weeks after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation. Subsequently, the Ukrainian singer and her mother made a rather difficult decision to leave Ukraine because of the war and travelled to the Swedish city of Stockholm.
In Sweden, the singer decided to continue doing her favourite thing and began performing at charity concerts in support of Ukraine, where she was noticed by representatives of the local office of the world-famous music label Warner Brothers and offered to sign a contract with her.
In 2023, Maria also took part in the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest Melodinfestivalen, where she came ninth with her song Never Give Up. However, this year, the singer has a much better chance of winning and is likely to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.
During her stay in Sweden, Maria gave many interviews in which she spoke about Ukraine, emphasised that the war is still ongoing, and shared that her father is still in Ukraine.
