There is no Ukrainian cinema: the nominees for the 2026 Oscars have been announced

On January 22, the American Film Academy announced the list of nominees for the 98th Academy Awards. The list of nominees was announced live on the Academy’s YouTube channel, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
There are 24 nominations in total this year, and according to analysts, the favorites are Paul Thomas Anderson’s political satire “There Will Be Blood” and Ryan Coogler’s musical horror film “The Sinner.” Also among the leaders is the animated hit “K-Pop Demon Hunters.”
Ukrainian films are not among the nominees
There are no Ukrainian films on the list of nominees. Despite making it onto the shortlists, Mstislav Chernov’s documentary 2000 Meters to Andriivka, Anastasia Falileeva’s short animated film I Died in Irpin, and Franz Böhm’s short live-action film Rock, Paper, Paper” by Franz Böhm (with Ukrainian actor Oleksandr Rudynskyi) did not receive nominations.
At the same time, films made by Russian authors appeared in categories where Ukrainian works were nominated, in particular the documentary Mr. Nobody Against Putin and the animated short film Three Sisters by Konstantin Bronzit.

Supporting roles — Elle Fanning, Inga Ebsdottir Lilleos, Amy Madigan, Wunmi Mosaku, Teayana Taylor; Benicio del Toro, Jacob Elordi, Delroy Lindo, Sean Penn, Stellan Skarsgård.
Records: The film “The Sinner” received 16 nominations, and Timothée Chalamet became the youngest actor with three nominations in the leading male category since Marlon Brando.
The list also includes nominations for screenplay (original and adapted), animation, foreign film, documentary, song, soundtrack, sound, cinematography, art direction, editing, costumes, makeup and hairstyling, visual effects, casting, and short formats.
