Ukraine expects to receive a basic security plan as early as this week

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that this week a “basic security plan” may be worked out, which should become one of the key elements of future security arrangements. He said this today, speaking at a briefing during a meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stere, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to Zelensky, a number of meetings are now taking place on the diplomatic settlement of the war.
“We have had a number of meetings, and today there will be a meeting with Kellogg, in the development of preparations regarding the possibility of future meetings with the Russian side. At the end of the week there will be a meeting between the Ukrainian and American teams. There will be a lot of work during the week. Yesterday, there were contacts between the head of the Office with Rubio and other partners, as well as a meeting of the G7 foreign ministers, including the United States. Today we have a conversation between our military leadership and partners. On Wednesday, there will be a meeting of the NSA – Natioanl Security Advisors.”
– the president said.

From his words one can conclude that these meetings are mainly about the very organization of negotiations with Russia, but the president specified that they are also about security guarantees – one of the key elements in the future configuration of “peaceful” agreements. Zelensky expressed cautious optimism:
“It seems to me that we will have a basic plan on security guarantees. I think we still need time to work out the details.”
After that, questions may remain only for the Russians, Zelensky argued. And a bit to the Americans.
“And after that, I would like to understand from the American side whether the Russians are ready, and for what configuration. Are the Russians ready for the configuration that was proposed by America and supported by Ukraine in the presence of European leaders – a bilateral and then a trilateral meeting?”
– said the President of Ukraine.
As earlier reported, after the meeting in Washington, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio recognized that one of the main prerequisites for peace agreements should be Ukraine’s confidence in its security in the future, but also warned against the inevitability of territorial compromises.
