Ukrzaliznytsia warned of difficulties in train traffic across the country
27 January 08:16
Train traffic in Ukraine has been disrupted due to abnormal cold weather. As of the morning of January 27, at least 10 locations have been identified where fallen trees have damaged power lines and communication and signaling equipment, so backup diesel locomotives have been deployed and traffic on 10 sections of the railway has been switched to telephone communication. This was reported by Ukrzaliznytsia, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
“One of the trees also hit a passenger car of train No. 127/128 Zaporizhia-Lviv, but there were no injuries to passengers and no damage to the car itself,” the company said.
The most difficult situation is in the Odesa region, where solid ice has covered the power lines, and special equipment is already working on this.
Train delays are traditionally updated on uz-vezemo. Currently, the largest delays are on the following routes:
- 38 Odesa – Uzhhorod 7:50
- 78 Odesa – Kovel 6:00
- 166 Odesa – Chernivtsi 5:55
- 12 Odessa – Lviv 5:38
- 106 Odessa – Kyiv 5:07.
Despite the difficulties, as of 08:00, all Ukrzaliznytsia trains continue to run.
