Ukrzaliznytsia canceled two flights in Zhytomyr region due to shelling

Following a nighttime attack on critical infrastructure on January 11, disruptions to transport and power systems were reported in the Zhytomyr region. Repair work is ongoing due to the damage, which has affected suburban train services.

Attack on infrastructure in Zhytomyr region
On the night of Sunday, January 11, Russian troops struck critical infrastructure facilities in the Zhytomyr region.
Two employees were injured in the attack, suffering moderate injuries and requiring hospitalization.
In the Zhytomyr region, the night attack on January 11 caused disruptions in the transport and energy infrastructure.
This was reported by the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia.
It is noted that due to damage to railway infrastructure facilities in the Zhytomyr region, additional time is needed to restore traffic. In this regard, on January 12, two morning commuter trains were temporarily canceled:
Fires broke out after the strikes. The work to eliminate the consequences took place in difficult conditions, as the firefighting was complicated by repeated air raid alerts.
Emergency power cuts in the region
In addition, emergency power cuts were introduced in the Korosten district, as well as in the city of Korosten itself. This was reported by Zhytomyroblenergo. Energy companies are urging residents to disconnect household appliances that are sensitive to voltage fluctuations from the grid until the situation stabilizes.
Changes in suburban train traffic
Due to damage to the railway infrastructure in the Zhytomyr region, additional time is needed for restoration. In this regard, on Monday, January 12, two morning suburban trains of Ukrzaliznytsia will be temporarily suspended:
– No. 6480 Olevsk – Korosten, departure at 04:47
– No. 6481 Korosten – Olevsk, departure at 09:48
