Ukrzaliznytsia has changed routes: where trains have been replaced by buses

On February 20, 2026, Ukrzaliznytsia temporarily changed the routes of a number of trains due to the security situation in the frontline regions. Rail transport is restricted in certain areas, and passengers are being transported to their destinations by bus. The restrictions primarily affect the Sumy, Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
This was reported by the press service of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
In which regions have train movements been changed?
The changes are related to security risks and the need to protect passengers and railway infrastructure.
“Our monitoring teams are working in an enhanced mode. Traffic on all sections is maintained taking into account the security situation,” Ukrzaliznytsia said.
Sumy region: trains only run to Konotop
In the Sumy region, regional train routes have been temporarily changed.
Currently, trains are running:
- only to Konotop station;
- and in the opposite direction from Konotop.
Further travel within the region is restricted for safety reasons.

Kharkiv and Donetsk regions: part of the route has been replaced by buses
Train traffic is temporarily restricted on the route from Lozova to Kramatorsk.
Ukrzaliznytsia has organized alternative transportation:
- passengers are being transported by special bus transfers;
- buses take passengers to stations where train traffic is possible.
At the same time, it is important to note that:
- regional express trains on the Izyum route are currently running on schedule.
Zaporizhzhia region: buses are partially operating between Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia
On the section between Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia, transport is organized in a combined manner:
- some trips are made by trains;
- some of the transportation is provided by buses.
Ukrzaliznytsia emphasizes that decisions may change depending on the security situation.
