Ukrzaliznytsia changed train routes on February 16: which flights have been cut
16 February 10:31
Due to the security situation and damage to infrastructure, temporary changes to train services are in effect in certain regions of Ukraine on February 16. This was reported by the company’s press service, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
Despite the difficult situation, trains continue to run, and the carrier is responding quickly to threats and damage.
Sumy and Chernihiv regions: restrictions on northern routes
In the Sumy region, regional trains currently only run to and from the city of Konotop. For further travel in the northern direction, passengers are offered transfers to suburban trains or bus transport.
In Chernihiv region, no additional restrictions have been introduced yet, but delays are possible on the following routes:
- Slavutych;
- Nizhyn.
The reason for this is damage to the contact network caused by drone attacks or adverse weather conditions.
Kharkiv region: traffic has been partially restored, but there are restrictions
In the Kharkiv region, train traffic has been restored on the damaged section near Lozova. At the same time, passengers are currently advised to use buses in the direction of Kramatorsk.
Free transportation is provided by the Proliska humanitarian mission, which registers passengers before boarding.
The situation is more stable in the Izyum direction, with regional express trains running according to schedule.
Zaporizhzhia direction: some trains only run to Dnipro
Due to the difficult security situation, a number of long-distance trains are temporarily running only to Dnipro, without stopping in Zaporizhzhia. This applies to the following routes:
- No. 86/85 Lviv — Zaporizhzhia — Lviv;
- No. 5/6 Yasinya — Zaporizhzhia;
- No. 39/40 Solotvyno — Zaporizhzhia — Solotvyno;
- No. 731/732 Kyiv — Zaporizhzhia — Kyiv;
- No. 128/127 Lviv — Zaporizhia — Lviv.
To ensure connectivity, regional flights have been organized between:
- Zaporizhia and Synelnykove;
- Synelnykiv and Dnipro.
Decisions regarding other trains between Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia will be made on an ad hoc basis depending on the security situation.
The reason for the changes is the security situation and attacks on infrastructure
Ukrzaliznytsia emphasizes that the schedule adjustments are related to regular attacks on railway infrastructure and risks to passenger safety.
The company recommends that passengers:
- activate push notifications in the Ukrzaliznytsia mobile app;
- check the current status of trains before traveling;
- follow the instructions of station staff and train crews.
The app also provides instructions on what to do during an air raid alert.
Trains continue to run despite threats
Despite the difficult situation in certain areas, rail service in Ukraine continues to operate. Ukrzaliznytsia is adapting routes and providing alternative transportation options to ensure the safe movement of passengers.
Railways remain a key mode of transport in wartime and continue to perform an important logistical function.
