Over two days, trilateral talks involving delegations from Ukraine, the US, and the Russian Federation took place in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The parties focused on issues of a possible ceasefire, mechanisms for its implementation, and monitoring of the cessation of hostilities. This was reported by NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov on Telegram, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

The talks were described as constructive

According to the published document, the discussions were constructive and focused on finding ways to create conditions for achieving lasting peace.

“Over the course of two days, the delegations held extensive discussions on a number of unresolved issues, including methods for implementing a ceasefire and mechanisms for monitoring the cessation of hostilities,” the statement said.

Prisoner exchange: the first in five months

Umerov also recalled the earlier agreement on the mutual release of prisoners of war. Under this agreement, Ukraine and Russia exchanged 157 prisoners of war from each side.

This exchange was the first in five months and was one of the practical results of contacts between the parties.

Negotiations will continue

Following the meetings, the delegations agreed to inform their capitals about the progress of the negotiations and to continue the trilateral talks in the coming weeks.

At the same time, no specific terms or parameters of a possible truce have been announced yet.

Zelensky’s statement about “sensitive information”

Earlier that day, Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the Ukrainian delegation in Abu Dhabi had received “very sensitive” information. According to the head of state, he had not yet received a report with details at that time.

The president also announced new negotiations in the near future, without revealing any additional details.
