Despite all the challenges, the overall results of 2025 for Ukraine’s dairy industry were relatively positive. For the first time since independence, agricultural enterprises have increased the number of cows by 3% to 385 thousand as of December 1. This was reported by
Due to the increase in productivity, milk production at agricultural enterprises increased by about 7% to 3.2 million tons (or 2.9 million tons in 11 months).
The increase in production also stimulated processing. In 2025, dairies could receive about 3.6 million tons of raw milk, which is 9% more than a year earlier. This figure even exceeded the pre-war level of 2021.
Dairy production grew faster than domestic consumption, forcing producers to enter foreign markets more actively. According to preliminary estimates, exports of dairy products in terms of milk increased by 17% to 0.7 million tons.
At the same time, imports remained significant – about 0.4 million tons, which analysts explain by price disparity.
