Government accelerates relocation of defense plants: special project launched for Motor Sich

The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a package of decisions to strengthen Ukraine’s defense industry. This includes simplifying relocation and rapid restoration of production facilities, including the launch of a pilot project for Motor Sich. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense on Facebook, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The authorities expect that this will allow them to fulfill defense contracts continuously – 24/7.
What happened
Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal said that the government, on the proposal of the Defense Ministry, had approved decisions aimed at accelerating the relocation and restoration of Ukrainian weapons production. A key element of the package was a separate pilot project for Motor Sich.
What does the project involve?
According to the minister, the state assumes a number of obligations that should remove infrastructure and bureaucratic barriers for defense companies:
- accelerated design of new production facilities;
- simplified connection to water, gas, heat and electricity supply;
- the ability to create ancillary infrastructure for the continuous operation of relocated facilities;
- guarantees of protection of sensitive security information.
Why does the government need it?
The Ministry of Defense explains that the decisions should intensify the restoration and creation of new Motor Sich facilities to fulfill state defense contracts. It is about building up capabilities in wartime, when production stability and speed of decision-making are critical.
