The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the start and end dates of the school year in Ukrainian schools. It will begin on September 1, 2025, and will last until June 30, 2026. This was announced by MP Oleksiy Honcharenko on his Telegram channel, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The regional and Kyiv city military administrations, together with the founders of the schools, will decide on the format and conditions for the start of training, depending on the security situation in each region.
“That is, the school year starts for everyone, but where exactly children will sit at their desks – in school or online – depends on the level of security,” explained the MP.
In September, more than 3 million children will start the school year in classrooms or online.
“The lack of shelters in educational institutions reduces the quality of education and makes it difficult to organize face-to-face classes. Therefore, we continue to build new underground schools and renovate existing ones. We also provide transportation of students on new school buses,” said Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
According to Svyrydenko, special attention was paid to schools in the frontline regions.
“It is important that all children have equal access to quality education and that the curricula meet the requirements of the modern labor market. That is why we are focusing on updating the content and teaching methods in line with the challenges of the times and improving the qualifications of teachers,” the Prime Minister added.
Also, according to her, this year more than 2.4 thousand students passed the national multi-subject test with the highest score.
