On 24 September, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution increasing the amount of monetary compensation for members of the Armed Forces who have been injured or disabled in groups I-III, as well as for the families of fallen soldiers. These payments are provided in cases where a serviceman was injured or killed during service, but not as a result of hostilities.
The payment to relatives due to the death of a serviceman in the war remains unchanged. If a serviceman was killed in action, according to Resolution No. 168 of 28 February 2022, the family will receive UAH 15 million within a year of the injury that led to death.
The government has also simplified the payment procedure. Previously, applications for payments were reviewed by an interdepartmental commission, and the funds were allocated by social protection agencies. From now on, the Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs has been empowered to carry out this process and transfer payments directly to applicants’ bank accounts. Applicants can now apply for payments through Diia.
