The Association of International Road Carriers of Ukraine (AsMAP) complains that representatives of the TCC forcibly remove drivers from flights right on the road and send them to serve. This is stated in the story of the association, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
The carriers talk in particular about the arbitrariness of the TCC at the Nyzhni Vorota post in Zakarpattia.
“The driver was travelling from Portugal and was stopped. The driver got out of the car – and the driver was taken away. There was no more communication with the driver. The driver parked the car on the side of the carriageway with the flashing lights on, and the car stayed there. We arrived at half past six in the morning the next day, and the car was still there, flashing. The keys and documents were taken away at the military commissariat,”
– said Vitaliy Shal, a carrier.
The other driver in the truck ended up at the training ground.
“He was stopped by police at Nyzhni Vorota, they asked for his documents and he provided them. They checked the documents and said that a representative of the TCC and the JV wanted to check them as well. The TCC representatives said, “Come on, we’ll take you to the TCC to check your details and let you go back”. The driver said he did not want to. He was forced into the vehicle. He was taken to a building in Svaliava. There, he underwent a medical examination and a preliminary medical examination. He signed all the documents for mobilisation and is already at the training ground near Rivne,”
– said Vitaliy Savchuk, a carrier of KTS LLC.
The association emphasises that drivers are officially engaged in international transport and are responsible for the safety of the cargo.
“I would like to officially appeal to the Minister of Defence and the Minister of Infrastructure – let’s sit down at the table, discuss all the problems and find ways to solve them. Drivers should not be seized on motorways and taken away, leaving the cargo and the car on the road. A person should know when he or she goes on a trip whether he or she will get home or not,”
– said Leonid Kostyuchenko, President of AsMAP.
The carriers hope that their activities will nevertheless be included by the state in the list of those critical to the economy, and drivers will receive reservations from the mobilisation.
As a reminder, the law on mobilisation comes into force on 18 May. Read about its main provisions here:
