In Ukraine, 449 settlements are without power due to bad weather

Strong winds that have been raging in Ukraine since the evening of December 16 have left 449 settlements without power. Khmelnytsky region suffered the most – 191 settlements are without power. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the State Emergency Service.
“As of 07:00 on December 17, according to Ukrenergo, 449 settlements in 15 regions (Khmelnytsky – 191, Lviv – 51, Sumy – 48, Rivne – 36, Ternopil – 34, Zhytomyr – 22, Volyn – 21, Dnipro – 13, Kharkiv – 11, Donetsk – 9, Kirovohrad – 4, Chernihiv – 3, Chernivtsi – 3, Kyiv – 2, and Cherkasy – 1) were cut off from electricity supply due to deteriorating weather conditions (wind gusts and rain),” the report says.
Power engineers note that regional power company crews are involved in restoring power supply. They plan to repair the damaged power lines as soon as possible.
Forecasters warn of rain and sleet, strong wind gusts of up to 25 meters per second. The air temperature is expected to be 4-9 degrees throughout the day, 7-12 degrees in the south and 0-4 degrees in the northeast. The wind will ease only on Thursday, December 19. However, the air temperature will drop on Sunday.
Moderate rains are expected today, with sleet in the Carpathians, in the east and northeast of the country, and light rain in the southern regions.
