The Ministry of Health has received more than 3,000 complaints about the work of medical and social expert commissions (MSECs) and is now working to reform them. Health Minister Viktor Liashko said this during a telethon, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Lyashko noted that after the appeals, inspections were immediately sent to confirm or deny the information.
“In Khmelnytsky, for example, the MSEC. In Khmelnytsky region, the head of the MSEC was detained on suspicion of illicit enrichment worth millions of dollars. Immediately after the complaints, an inspection was sent, and the head of the regional administration was informed to work with the central regional MSEC, because we saw that there were problems there. They did, and everyone saw the result last week,” the minister added.
He also said that the Ministry of Health is working on reforming the MSEC. According to him, the reform involves “point changes” that should simplify the process of passing the MSEC and prevent manipulation.
A general reform of the MSEC is also expected, which includes changes to the medical and social parts.
Lyashko urged people to call hotlines and report violations in the work of the MSEC, if any.
As a reminder, law enforcement officers detained and notified the head of the Khmelnytsky Regional Centre for Medical and Social Expertise of suspicion of illicit enrichment, from whom almost $6 million was seized.
Recently, as part of the pre-trial investigation, the State Bureau of Investigation began to study lists with fictitious diagnoses of men found during searches in the office of Tetiana Krupa, head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Centre for Medical and Social Expertise. According to the SBI, these lists contained names and fictitious diagnoses.
