Onion prices have fallen sharply in Ukraine

Onion prices have fallen in Ukraine since the beginning of this week. The main reason was the beginning of harvesting late varieties of onions in the northern and western regions of the country, which led to a significant increase in the supply of products on the market.
This is reported by analysts of the EastFruit project, "Komersant Ukrainian".
As of today, wholesale prices for onions in the domestic market have already dropped to 6-13 UAH/kg ($0.15-0.31/kg), which is on average 20% cheaper than a week earlier. It is worth noting that farmers are currently getting rid of onions that cannot be stored for a long time due to certain quality parameters.
Onions in Ukraine are already 24% cheaper on average than in the same period last year. At the same time, many market players note a significant reduction in the harvest of quality onions this season due to unfavorable weather conditions.
