An earthquake occurred in Ukraine: in which region and with what magnitude

On Sunday afternoon, February 8, an earthquake measuring 3 on the Richter scale struck the Poltava region. This is the second earthquake in the region in the last three days.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the website of the Main Center for Special Control.

“On February 8, 2026, the Main Center for Special Control registered an earthquake in the Poltava district, Poltava region, Machukhivska TG, with a magnitude of 3.0 (on the Richter scale), at a depth of 9 km,” the report said.

According to the earthquake classification, it was classified as barely perceptible.

It should also be noted that on February 6 at 7:36 p.m., an earthquake was also recorded in the Poltava region. The epicenter was in the Poltava TG at a depth of 9 km, and the magnitude was 3.1 on the Richter scale.

This is not the first earthquake in Ukraine in 2026. Including today’s incident, there have been at least seven since the beginning of the year.
