Cabbage prices are falling rapidly in Ukraine: the main factors behind the price drop

According to data from EastFruit’s daily monitoring, most Ukrainian producers are reporting a rapid deterioration in the quality of the 2025 white cabbage harvest in storage, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to market participants, Ukrainian farmers are currently rushing to sell off their stocks of last year’s harvest before early vegetables begin to flood the market and pressure on the market intensifies.
As of today, white cabbage is being offered for sale at a price of 2–8 UAH/kg ($0.05–0.18/kg), which is on average 22% cheaper than a week earlier.
The price decline in this segment is driven by a sharp drop in demand for vegetables due to deteriorating product quality. Additionally, prices are under pressure from significant volumes of imported produce from the new harvest, which are entering the Ukrainian domestic market in sufficient quantities.
It should be noted that white cabbage in Ukraine is currently offered at an average of 88% less than a year ago. Project analysts suggest that prices for this product will begin to rise only after the existing volumes of last year’s cabbage have been fully sold.
