As of today, 460 communities in Ukraine are temporarily occupied, and 160 communities are under the influence of active hostilities.

This was announced by Oleksiy Kuleba, Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister of Community and Territorial Development, during a panel discussion “Local Way to Europe” at the event on the occasion of the launch of the third phase of the U-LEAD with Europe program, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports with reference to Ukrinform.

“The main component of this reform (decentralization reform – ed.) is people, community leaders. No reforms, no partners of ours could have changed every community leader who was in a terrible situation at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. And 160 community leaders continue to be in this situation, because this is the number of communities that are currently under the influence of active hostilities. At the same time, 460 communities are temporarily occupied. And we are talking about 460 community leaders whom we have to support,” the official said.

Kuleba emphasized the important role of the decentralization reform and stressed that it should continue.

According to him, the government will work “to provide more additional powers to local governments.”

He also announced the adoption of a bill in late March that would reformat state administrations into prefectural governments.
