Another powerful gas well launched in Ukraine

Since the beginning of the year, Ukrgasvydobuvannya, a part of Naftogaz Group, has launched its fourth high-rate well, which brings about 400,000 cubic metres of gas to Ukraine per day. This was reported by Kommersant Ukrainian 
with reference to the press service of Naftogaz.
The development team of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Natural Gases (UkrNDIGas), which is also part of Naftogaz Group, was able to correctly assess the residual potential of the old field, successfully identify the site for the well and prove the high prospects for drilling in this area.
The work also set a daily record for drilling by a single team, which drilled 905 metres in 24 hours. Thanks to the efficient work of Ukrburgaz specialists, the well was completed 30% faster than the project schedule – in just 105 days.
“Even among the high-rate wells, this facility is one of the most productive. This is the result of the efficient and well-coordinated work of a large team of Naftogaz Group at all stages – from design to drilling and commissioning,”
– said Oleksiy Chernyshov, CEO of Naftogaz Group.
Ukrgasvydobuvannya specialists also reduced the risks of negative impact of drilling mud on reservoir formations. Thus, when drilling in the interval of productive formations, a hydrocarbon-based mud was used, which makes it possible to achieve such a result.
It should be noted that in the first days of 2024, Ukrgasvydobuvannya commissioned an exploration well with a production rate of 250 tcm of gas per day. In February, two more wells with a total flow rate of 550 tcm per day were also launched.
We would like to add that this year, for the first time, Ukraine managed to get through the winter using only domestically produced gas.
