A little more than half of the grain planned for the autumn sowing has been sown

As of October 13, Ukraine planted 3.098 million hectares of winter crops, or 57.1% of the forecast (5.424 million hectares).
This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy with reference to the operational data of the sowing campaign, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
It should be noted that as of October 14 last year, the area under winter crops in Ukraine was estimated at 3.733 mln ha, which was 72% of the planned.
In particular, as of October 13, the following areas were sown:
- winter wheat – 2.821 mln ha, or 59% of the forecast (4.78 mln ha);
- winter barley – 222 thou hectares, or 38.5% of the forecast (576.4 thou hectares);
- winter rye – 54.8 thou hectares, or 79% of the forecast (69.3 thou hectares).
As specified, winter grain sowing is currently underway in all regions of Ukraine, except Luhansk.
In addition, winter rapeseed sowing continues in 10 regions, with 985.3 thou hectares sown, or 88.4% of the forecast (1.11 mln ha).
Agrarians in Vinnytsia, Volyn, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Poltava, Rivne, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Kherson, Khmelnytsky, Chernivtsi and Chernihiv regions have completed sowing the crop.
