Ukraine has successfully completed the heating season, despite Russia’s numerous attempts to disrupt the country’s power grid.

This was reported by Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

According to him, Ukraine entered the fall-winter period with gas reserves of 13.2 billion cubic meters. Gas imports totaled over 4.6 billion cubic meters.

He noted that in 2025, Ukrainian gas production amounted to 16.97 billion cubic meters. This is 2.4 billion cubic meters more than forecast. The private sector demonstrated growth of over 14%.

Fifty-two tons of liquefied gas were delivered to vulnerable groups of citizens in the Sumy and Kherson regions as part of a pilot project.

The capacity of the Trans-Balkan Corridor has been increased to 4.2 billion cubic meters of gas per year, the minister reported.

According to Shmyhal, all 9 power units of the nuclear power plant were operating at a total installed capacity of 7,835 MW.

“We have increased the capacity for electricity imports from the EU. The maximum electricity import capacity reached a record high of 2,450 MW. In total, approximately 3.6 billion kWh of electricity was imported between December and February,” noted the head of the Ministry of Energy.

He emphasized that the country had sufficient coal reserves throughout the winter. A total of 2.4 million tons of coal were stockpiled, which is 0.8 million tons more than planned.

As a reminder, the heating season began on November 11, 2025, throughout Ukraine, including in communities near the front lines.
