If the heat and shortage of electricity will continue at the same level as now, it will lead to an even greater increase in prices, primarily for vegetables, dairy, meat, and bakery products. Deputy Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council Denys Marchuk reported this in a comment to "Komersant Ukrainian".
Marchuk noted that food prices have already risen due to the heat and the use of additional energy sources.
“For example, dairy farms have already increased their generation capacity. We are talking about generators. Their capacity, on average for a farm, is at least 100 kW. They consume a large amount of diesel fuel per hour, which has already led to an increase in the purchase price of dairy products. This chain stretches further – logistics, trade networks, which are now massively using energy. We already see the increase in the price of dairy products, bread, meat – all these are the consequences of the energy crisis.”
Marchuk said.
A natural factor, namely heat, also affects prices, especially for vegetables.
“Cucumbers from open ground are now on the market, but their prices do not decrease due to the heat, which requires intensive watering. The use of generators and irrigation systems are additional financial costs that also affect the cost of production. Therefore, with problems in energy and heat, we will see prices rise,”
- noted the expert.
In addition, the Verkhovna Rada voted in favor of the law 11256-2 on the increase of fuel licenses, and from September fuel prices will increase. This will also be a factor that will affect the entire logistics chain due to the increase in the price of gasoline and diesel fuel. Gas will also be included in this process.
