Prices for greenhouse cucumbers are rising in Ukraine – 16% in a week
5 August 2025 14:36
Over the past week, selling prices for greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine have increased by an average of 16% to UAH 30-50 per kilogram, depending on the quality and volume of the batch. This was reported by EastFruit, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The main factors behind the rise in price were:
- limited supply in the domestic market;
- temperature changes in July, which provoked cucumber diseases in the open field;
- hot and dry weather, which also affected the harvest;
- stable demand for cucumbers from consumers.
It is expected that in the first decade of August, greenhouse plants will start harvesting the new crop. This may change the current price trends.
Despite the recent increase, cucumber prices in August 2025 are still 15% lower than in the same period of 2024.
How the prices for greenhouse cucumbers changed in 2025:
| Month | Average price range (UAH/kg) | Commentary |
|---|---|---|
| January | 90-110 UAH/kg | Low supply, high import prices |
| February | 85-100 UAH/kg | Start of decline amid rising imports |
| March | 65-80 UAH/kg | Decrease due to the entry of local greenhouses into the market |
| April | 55-70 UAH/kg | Steady decline due to increased supply |
| May | 40-60 UAH/kg | Peak supply from the old turnover |
| June | 35-45 UAH/kg | Moderate growth due to the decline in the collection |
| August (currently) | 30-50 UAH/kg | Decrease compared to last year’s August, but growth over the last week |
If the new crop is sufficient in August, prices may stabilize or even decline.
