Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia, announced the launch of the Locomotive Company this year, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to him, the new company will include Ukrzaliznytsia’s locomotive depots.

“There will be centralized coordination, optimization of processes, additional workload for the strongest depots, and improved supply,” explained the head of Ukrzaliznytsia.

Oleksandr Pertsovskyi also spoke about his recent trip around the country and shared his impressions of visiting the locomotive depots of Odesa Railways.

“Taras Shevchenko Locomotive Depot is a diesel locomotive base. There are still a lot of non-electrified areas where it is important to keep the traffic moving. Many of the spare parts were Russian, but the depot is operating, mastering production, and setting up production at its own facilities. Znamenka is a potential base for our new dual-system locomotives. The depot is ready. The facilities allow us to deploy a high-quality base for new modern electric locomotives. Podilsk – we decided to set up an experience exchange school here in a couple of weeks,” said Oleksandr Pertsovsky, Chairman of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia.
