Supreme Court acquits and releases former head of the State Aviation Service Antoniuk from custody

The former head of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine, Denys Antoniuk, has been released from custody in the courtroom, the Supreme Court of Ukraine has dropped all charges against him. This was reported by lawyer Olga Prosyanyuk, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“The Supreme Court has cancelled the HACCU’s guilty verdict and the ruling of the Appellate Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court against the Head of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine and closed the proceedings! The client was released from custody in the courtroom. All charges have been dropped,”

– she wrote.

Denys Antoniuk headed the SASU in 2014-2015.

On 20 January 2023, a panel of judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court found the former head of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine guilty of committing a criminal offence under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of office, i.e. intentional use of official position by an official contrary to the interests of the service in order to obtain an undue advantage for another legal entity, which caused serious consequences for the legally protected interests of the legal entity).

The defendant was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months of imprisonment with disqualification to hold positions related to the performance of organisational, administrative or economic functions for a period of 3 years and a fine of UAH 8,500.
