Razumkov: Electronic elections are a path to usurpation of power

Holding presidential elections without adhering to democratic standards could lead to the usurpation of power and turn Ukraine into an authoritarian state following the Russian model. The idea of electronic voting is particularly dangerous, as it does not comply with the Constitution and creates the threat of large-scale fraud.

This was stated in an interview with the YouTube channel "Komersant Ukrainian" .

Speaking about the possibility of holding elections this year, the politician stressed that everything depends on the end of the war and the time needed to properly prepare for the electoral process.

“If the war ends, if enough time passes to prepare for them, then yes, there will be elections,” Razumkov said.

Razumkov stressed that real elections are only possible if classic democratic procedures, typical of European and Western countries, are followed.

“If it is an electoral process as we are used to, as it happens in Europe, America, and other countries, democratic countries of the world — then yes,” he stressed.

Separately, the former speaker criticized the idea of electronic voting, warning that in this case, Ukraine risks repeating Russia’s path.

“Do you know how many countries in the world hold elections in electronic format? Two. One of them is Estonia… And the second is not a country, but a territory called the Russian Federation. I don’t want elections in Ukraine to be held according to Russia’s model, because then we’ll end up with Putin,” Razumkov stressed.

The politician also stated that electronic voting contradicts the Constitution of Ukraine and creates excessive opportunities for manipulation.

“This is nonsense… Plus, the Constitution says ‘personal voting, secret voting,'” he said.

According to Razumkov, any attempts to change the voting format, in particular, to “stretch” it over several days, only open the way for fraud.

“Extending it to several days is nonsense. It is also a transition to a format of usurpation of power,” he said.

At the end of the conversation, Razumkov also spoke about the future of parliament, stating that the optimal number of MPs for the Verkhovna Rada to work effectively is 300. At the same time, he does not believe that the current composition of parliament is capable of making such a decision.

“I don’t believe that the necessary number of votes will be obtained… It has to be 300 votes,” the politician concluded.

As reported by [Komersant], online voting for migrants threatens the legitimacy of the post-war elections.
