Power outages across the country: where and when the lights will be turned off on November 20
20 November 00:22
On Thursday, November 20, hourly power outage schedules will be introduced across Ukraine. The restrictions are being introduced due to the consequences of massive missile and drone attacks that have caused significant damage to the energy infrastructure in recent days. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Ukrenergo.
Why the power is cut off
The attacks on power facilities have caused a power shortage in the system.
In order to balance the load and avoid emergency blackouts, scheduled outages are launched across the country.
The schedules help to distribute the load evenly and protect the grid from new accidents.
What outages will be in effect on November 20
- Hourly schedules (HTS)
From 00:00 to 23:59, there will be 2.5 to 4 rounds of outages per day.
The number and sequence of outages will depend on the energy situation in a particular region.
- Restrictions for industry
From 00:00 to 23:59, blackouts will be applied to large enterprises and production facilities.
These restrictions help reduce the load on the grid during peak consumption hours.
Why schedules may change
Power engineers warn that the situation remains dynamic.
If the power system suffers new damage or consumption increases, the schedules may be adjusted.
What is the advice to Ukrainians
Follow the updates from your regional power distribution company – they publish the latest schedules for each district.
Use electricity sparingly, especially at times when the electricity is on schedule.
Plan the operation of household appliances so as not to create an additional load on the grid.
Where to find out your outage schedule
“Ukrenergo urges Ukrainians to follow the updates on the official pages of regional power distribution companies in their region. They publish current schedules and changes in outages.
“When electricity is supplied on schedule, please consume it sparingly,” the company emphasized.
