Power cuts on 28 June: where and when there will be no electricity
27 June 2024 21:30
On Friday, 28 June, regional power distribution companies will apply hourly outage schedules from 00:00 to 24:00. This was reported by Kommersant Ukrainian with reference to information published by Ukrenergo.
Ukrenergo also noted that the power supply to critical infrastructure facilities will not be limited on 28 June. In addition, Ukrainians were urged to save electricity in their homes whenever possible.
The company also reminded Ukrainians that the main reason for the restrictions is the consequences of eight enemy missile attacks on the Ukrainian power grid since the beginning of this year. Imports and emergency assistance from European countries are being sourced to overcome the deficit. However, due to the scale of the damage, these measures are not enough to maintain the balance in the power system, so Ukrenergo’s Control Centre is forced to apply consumption restrictions for both industrial and household consumers.
What is the current situation in the Ukrainian power system?
The nighttime massive enemy attack did not result in damage to power facilities. However, due to the hostilities that continued throughout the day, there were new blackouts in the frontline Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Kherson regions.
In Donetsk Oblast, buildings caught fire as a result of hostile shelling of a mine. At the time, there were no miners underground, and three security guards were in a shelter.
In Donetsk Oblast, an overhead line of the distribution system operator was also disconnected during the hostilities. This led to a decrease in the load at the generating facility.
In total, over the day, power companies restored electricity to more than 14.7 thousand customers who lost power due to hostilities and technological disruptions in a number of regions.
