Yermak’s Resignation: Experts Assess Zelensky’s Decision and Prospects for Renewal of the Presidential Office

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accepted the resignation of the head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak. Political and military experts commented to "Komersant Ukrainian" that this decision is aimed at reducing internal tension and preparing for new political and negotiating steps in the difficult conditions of the war.
Political analyst Volodymyr Fesenko said the president made the decision to ease tensions.
“Since Yermak has become a defendant in the case, voluntary resignation in the current situation is the best option. This will help to avoid internal contradictions and potential attacks on NABU by certain law enforcement agencies. The key challenge now is the war and the difficult stage of negotiations, so we cannot aggravate the situation,” Fesenko said.
At the same time, political analyst Volodymyr Tsybulko says that the questionis whether Zelenskyi will form a team from different backgrounds and regions or limit himself to a narrow circle of trusted people from his previous environment.
“Previously, the presidential administration always had representatives from Kharkiv, Dnipro, and Lviv. There was some logic at the beginning of Zelenskyy’s term, and then he focused exclusively on former Party of Regions members and the 95th quarter. This has led to an absolute deadlock in governing the country. Now we will see what characters he will introduce. For example, when we saw Budanov or Kyslytsia, or the Chief of the General Staff, who met with the American side in Switzerland, in the negotiation group, it was in stark contrast to Yermak’s monopoly. That is, everything will depend on the new team,” emphasized Volodymyr Fesenko.
Military expert Dmytro Snegiryov explained that the connection between Yermak’s searches and the pressure from the US partners is not interconnected.
“The version that is being thrown around that our American partners are behind Yermak’s searches and that it was provoked by Yermak’s own statements, well, we will leave it to the Presidential Office. The point is that these events are not interconnected, but what’s next? Next will be the appropriate implementation of the American plan to sign a peace agreement. Please note that this is not a Russian-American plan, as I am trying to convince you, it is an exclusively American plan, and the pressure is being exerted on both Russia and, accordingly, Ukraine. So what can we expect? Well, let’s see, the next week will show,” Snegirev said.
