World Games 2025: Ukrainian woman updates world record in scuba diving

Ukrainian swimmer Sofia Grechko has updated the world record for underwater speed swimming in the mono-last at the 2025 World Games in China. This was reported by Suspilne, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

the 20-year-old native of Kharkiv won a gold medal in the 400 meters. Sophia Grechko beat the world’s best result by 0.22 seconds, which was set by Yitin Sun of China in July 2018. The Ukrainian’s result was 3:11.88 minutes.

Another Ukrainian, 16-year-old Hanna Yakovleva, won a silver medal.

Earlier, Sofia Grechko also became a champion in the 200 meters. In total, Ukraine has won seven gold medals at the 2025 World Games so far.

The diving competitions at the 2025 World Games are over. Ukraine has won 11 medals in this discipline. This is the best result among all national teams. In the medal standings, the Ukrainians are in third place, behind Hungary and Germany.

The World Games are international integrated competitions in sports not included in the Olympic Games program. They have been held since 1981 with a frequency of once every four years. Since 2001, they have been held under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee.
