The extremely active Simmoe volcano on the southwestern Japanese island of Kyushu has spewed a column of hot ash and smoke to a height of more than three kilometers.
This was reported by NHK TV channel, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“A large amount of volcanic ash is expected to fall in the cities of Kobayashi and Takahara, Miyazaki Prefecture, as well as in the city of Kirishima, Kagoshima Prefecture,” the publication says.
The TV channel added that the Japanese Meteorological Observatory has maintained the level of danger of the eruption at the third level, urging people to be vigilant. According to NHK, the area northeast of the Simmoe crater at a distance of 14 km was covered with small stones and pumice, and local authorities warn of the danger of lava flow.
The 1,400-meter-high Simmoe volcano has been shaken by earthquakes since the end of June this year. It has erupted several times since October 2017.
