On Sunday night, February 1, specialists completed repairs on the high-voltage line connecting Ukraine and Moldova, according to First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal.
“Today, at 2 a.m., repairs were completed on the high-voltage line connecting Ukraine and Moldova. This adds 500 MW of capacity to stabilize the energy supply in the south,” Shmyhal said in a Telegram post following a meeting of the headquarters for eliminating the consequences of the energy emergency, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to the minister, Ukraine is increasing the pace of connecting cogeneration plants. On January 31, a 1.5 MW plant was connected in the Kyiv region, and another 1 MW is expected to be launched on February 2. Shmyhal said that in January, plants with a total capacity of about 4.5 MW were connected in the Kyiv region.
At the same time, the headquarters is working to simplify the launch of its own generation as much as possible. The deputy prime minister recalled that the government has expanded the 5-7-9% program and now credit funds can be used to purchase cogeneration plants. The maximum amount of the investment loan has been increased from UAH 150 million to UAH 250 million.
Shmyhal also reminded that under the new SvitloDim program, co-owners of apartment buildings can purchase generators, batteries, inverters, solar panels, and other equipment worth between UAH 100,000 and UAH 300,000. UAH 800 million has been allocated for the program, and a pilot project has been launched in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. The program will subsequently be expanded to other regions.
According to Shmyhal, he called on local and regional authorities to “speed up the restoration of electricity and heat supply” amid intensifying frosts in Ukraine.
