Already 15 trains have women’s compartments: list of routes

Ukrzaliznytsia JSC has expanded the list of routes with women’s compartments and is adding 3 more trains that will run such cars starting July 25. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Ukrzaliznytsia.
Thus, in addition to the existing list, women’s compartments have been added to trains on the following routes:
- no. 38/37 Kyiv – Zaporizhzhia;
- no. 98/97 Kovel – Kyiv;
- no. 22/21 Lviv – Kharkiv.
Tickets for women’s compartments on these trains will be available from July 25. In all three trains, women’s compartments will be located in car 5.
In total, women’s compartments are already available in 15 trains, namely:
- no. 1/2 Kharkiv – Vorokhta;
- no. 3/4 Zaporizhzhia – Uzhhorod;
- no. 5/6 Zaporizhzhia – Yasinia;
- no. 15/16 Kharkiv – Yasinia;
- no. 17/18 Kharkiv – Mukachevo (Uzhhorod):
- no. 22/21 Lviv – Kharkiv:
- no. 26/25 Odesa – Yasinia;
- no. 29/30 Kyiv – Uzhhorod;
- no. 38/37 Kyiv – Zaporizhzhia;
- no. 41/42 Dnipro – Truskavets;
- no. 43/44 Cherkasy – Ivano-Frankivsk;
- no. 75/76 Kyiv – Kryvyi Rih;
- no. 81/82 Kyiv – Chop (Uzhhorod);
- no. 95/96 Kyiv – Rakhiv;
- no. 98/97 Kovel – Kyiv.
Only women and children under 5 years old are allowed in these compartments. Tickets for these routes do not differ from regular compartments in terms of price.
What are women’s compartments?
“Ukrzaliznytsia announced the creation of special women’s compartments after a broad public discussion and a petition – for weeks, social media had been abuzz with discussions about harassment of women on trains. Women, trans women, and mothers with children under six years of age of either gender are allowed to board the trains.
The decision was made to launch such compartments on long-distance routes, which are among the leaders in terms of the number of registered conflict cases since the beginning of the year.
It should be noted that due to the large-scale work on laying the European standard track between Chop and Uzhhorod, Ukrzaliznytsia is making temporary changes to the schedule of passenger trains running to Zakarpattia.
The changes will last until July 31, 2025.
At the same time, rail connections to Uzhhorod for all regions will be provided by alternative routes.
