The Verkhovna Rada has registered a draft resolution to dismiss Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi. The authors of the document claim managerial inefficiency, possible corruption, and irregularities in the financial statements of the Ministry of Education and Science, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

on December 9, MPs Anton Yatsenko, Larysa Bilozir, and Dmytro Mykysha registered draft resolution No. 14286 in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine; the text of the initiative and its justification were published later.

The day before, the issue of dismissing Lisovyi from his post on the proposal of the relevant education committee was considered and supported by the Servant of the People faction.

The Minister of Education is accused of possible corruption and the inexpediency of his further stay in office.

MPs also emphasize the lack of preparation and managerial inefficiency of the Ministry in reforming the network of higher education institutions.

In particular, one of the authors of the resolution to dismiss Lisovyi, MP Anton Yatsenko , speaks of “very specific claims” regarding the merger of universities and more.

“I have specific claims: when two institutions were merged in the city of Uman, in my opinion, it was unreasonable. And then they appointed a person who represents local criminals today. And so the processes began. You know, it’s like tearing up the ground, the buildings, who will move in. Teachers are being fired. Students are insulted there, teachers are retroactively sent on vacation

Before submitting the resolution, I talked to the minister twice. But I found no support,” Yatsenko said.

This is not the first time that the resignation of the Minister of Education has been initiated in the parliament. Last time, according to journalist Tetyana Nikolayenko, Lisovyi was saved by First Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov on the verge of dismissal.

“Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi should have resigned, including for the closure of schools in territorial communities and for the fact that education reform as such has not taken place. But Mykhailo Fedorov defended him,” she wrote.

MP Yatsenko does not know whether anyone will try to save Lisovyi this time, and First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov in particular, but adds that the relevant resolution (on the dismissal of the minister – ed.) will definitely not be put to a vote in the parliament this week.

Since the beginning of his ministerial career, Oksen Lisovyi has been considered Fedorov’s creation.

For his part, Fedorov called strengthening the Ministry of Education one of the tasks set by the president.

Recently, Lisovyi and Fedorov jointly presented a vision for the transformation of the education sector.
