How Ukraine will attract men of pre-mobilization age to the army: media reports

Ukraine plans to encourage young men who have not reached the official mobilization age to voluntarily join the Armed Forces of Ukraine by introducing a system of motivational contracts. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Glavkom.

The media outlet, relying on its own sources in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, writes that the contracts are supposed to be concluded for one year, including a month and a half of basic general military training.

Young volunteers will be provided with significant amounts of “lifting” payments at the beginning of their service, as well as combat payments and a social package that will include free university education after service, soft loans, etc. In total, the payments will amount to half a million hryvnias.

However, in order for the introduction of incentive contracts to become a reality, six laws need to be amended by the Verkhovna Rada. In addition, from January 1, 2025, conscription will be abolished in Ukraine, but young people of pre-mobilization age will have to undergo basic military service or general military training.
