The Armed Forces of Ukraine are stepping up efforts to develop an air defense system to combat attack drones that regularly attack Ukrainian cities and infrastructure. This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi after a meeting dedicated to improving the effectiveness of this area, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“We are creating a tiered system of countering the enemy’s “Shahed” and “Geraniums”. Our common task is to form more such crews, train more fighter jet operators, and provide them with more effective weapons and radar,” Syrsky said.

The meeting discussed

  • the performance of drone interceptor units;
  • the level of provision of various types of drones;
  • prospects for improving the effectiveness of combating enemy strike and reconnaissance UAVs;
  • key problems and ways to solve them.

The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that air defense remains one of the key priorities for both the state and the military command:

“Air defense is a priority for the state, for the Armed Forces, and for me personally as Commander-in-Chief. After all, the security of the Ukrainian rear depends on the effectiveness of our anti-Shahid system and the reliability of missile defense. Therefore, we continue to select personnel to staff the crews of UAV interceptors, form new staff units.”

Syrsky also instructed to eliminate the existing shortcomings in the work of the units responsible for intercepting drones and to strengthen this area.

Earlier it was reported that Russia is using the Rubicon Center for Advanced Unmanned Technologies to improve the use of UAVs at the front, particularly in the Donetsk sector.
