Which Ukrainian city will be next to get 5G: all the details

Following the successful launch of a 5G pilot program in several cities, more than half a million Ukrainians have already tested the new technology in real-world conditions. Kyiv will be the next city where 5G is scheduled to be launched.
This was announced in an interview with RBC-Ukraine by Stanislav Prybyitko, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation for Digital Infrastructure Development, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
As Prybyitko noted, the 5G pilot is already operational in Lviv and Borodianka, and has been running in Kharkiv since February 14.
“The main result of the pilot is that over half a million Ukrainians have already tested 5G in real-world conditions,” he explained.
According to him, the Ministry of Digital Transformation has observed a clear trend: as soon as coverage becomes available, people immediately begin to use it to the fullest.
Traffic has increased significantly. Thanks to high speeds, subscribers are watching videos in the highest quality, instantly downloading large files, and working with cloud services directly from their phones.
“But the pilot’s most important achievement is stability. Despite a sharp spike in network load, connection quality did not drop. This is the main value of 5G: the network can handle a large number of active users simultaneously without losing speed,” the deputy minister explained.
Prybykko confirmed that Kyiv will be the next city to launch the 5G pilot.
“There are no regulatory barriers from the state. We are currently in a purely technical phase: mobile operators are ordering equipment and finalizing locations for base stations to ensure the highest possible coverage quality in the capital,” he concluded.
5G Testing in Ukraine
Back in May 2023, then-Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced the start of 5G testing in Ukraine. In the initial phase, the new generation of connectivity was available only at select locations in a few cities.
Lviv became the first testing site, after which testing was gradually expanded to the Kyiv region and Kharkiv.
Specifically, on January 28, 2026, a 5G pilot launch took place in Borodianka, Kyiv Oblast.
