Not everyone is eligible for polygraph testing. There are a number of medical and psychological contraindications that prohibit testing. Volodymyr Vedmid, the head of the National Association of Polygraph Examiners of Ukraine, said this in an interview with the "Komersant Ukrainian" YouTube channel.
“We do not recommend polygraph examinations for people who have had a stroke or heart attack, who have cardiovascular disease or acute pain. When a person is in acute pain, they will not concentrate on the test, and the results may be distorted.
We also do not conduct polygraph testing with pregnant women at a late stage of pregnancy, because a polygraph is a somewhat stressful procedure, and pregnant women should not be stressed. Some polygraph examiners do not test pregnant women at all, including me,” he said.
According to the expert, before the test, polygraph examiners first interview the respondent to determine whether the person can safely undergo the examination. If there is even the slightest risk to health, the test is not conducted.
