EU prepares to impose duties on airplanes, cars and bourbon from the US – Bloomberg

The European Union has finalized the second package of customs measures in response to the new US trade policy. The list includes American goods worth a total of 72 billion euros, including cars, Boeing airplanes, bourbon, chemicals, medical equipment, wines, plastics, and agricultural products. Bloomberg reports this, citing sources in the EU, "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to preliminary information, the list covered products worth 95 billion euros, but it was adjusted after consultations with business and EU member states.
This step is a response to the statement by US President Donald Trump, who recently announced his intention to impose a 30% duty on EU goods starting August 1, explaining it by the need to reduce the trade deficit with the Old World.
What’s next
Brussels said it was ready to negotiate a new trade agreement that would avoid further escalation. Meanwhile, the European Commission plans to extend the current moratorium on duties on the first list of American goods (worth €21 billion) until August 1 to preserve space for dialogue.
However, the EU continues to prepare for possible symmetrical measures if the United States does indeed realize its intentions in August.
