The European Union intends to restrict the movement of Russian diplomats within the EU due to suspicions of espionage. This was reported by the British newspaper Financial Times, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“The proposed rules would oblige Russian diplomats working in EU capitals to inform other governments of their travel plans before leaving the country,” the report says.
In late September, Austria declared a Russian diplomat persona non grata.
According to local media, the diplomat is suspected of espionage. According to journalists, he allegedly met repeatedly with a former employee of OMV, the largest oil and gas company in Central Europe. The authors of the material claim that during the searches of the ex-employee, internal documents of the Austrian concern were found.
