YouTube can turn into a messenger

Google has announced the launch of a new experiment on the YouTube platform, which provides the ability to share and discuss videos directly in the mobile application. The feature applies to all YouTube content formats, including standard videos, Shorts, and live broadcasts, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The experiment is currently available to a limited number of users over the age of 18 in Ireland and Poland. The company clarifies that the test participants will also retain the ability to share videos through other programs, as before. At the same time, Google notes that sent messages can be automatically checked for compliance with community rules, especially if content that could potentially cause harm is detected.
Testers will have a new section called Messages. To send a video to another user, you need to click on the notification icon, select the “Invite other users to share video” option, and send an invitation with a link. The recipient can accept or decline the request. Once accepted, content and messages will be shared directly within the YouTube app. Invitation links are valid for seven days from the date of creation.
Google has not yet disclosed the timing of a possible extension of the test or the introduction of the feature to a wider audience.
