The Solotvyno-Sighetu Marmatiei checkpoint on the border with Romania will periodically suspend the registration of vehicles on weekdays starting January 10. This was reported on the website of the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to the State Border Guard Service, vehicle registration will be periodically suspended from Monday to Friday from 9:30 to 15:00.
“These measures are being taken in connection with the reconstruction of the bridge over the Tisa River,” the statement said.
The repair work is expected to last for 50 days.
Pedestrian traffic at the Solotvyno-Sighetu-Marmaciei checkpoint will not be suspended.
What checkpoints are already on the border with Romania?
Currently, there are four cargo checkpoints for large vehicles on the border of Ukraine and Romania: “Porubne – Siret, Orlivka – Isaccea, Dyakove – Halmeu, and Krasnoyilsk – Vicovu de Sus (for empty trucks).
Every day, nearly 500 trucks cross these checkpoints to leave Ukraine.
Thus, the Bila Tserkva-Sighetu Marmatiei checkpoint in Zakarpattia region will become one of the key logistics routes and will significantly increase the capacity of the Ukrainian-Romanian border and the state border in general.
