He’s hard to deal with: Trump accused Zelenskyy of being unwilling to sign a peace agreement

U.S. President Donald Trump said he was surprised that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy allegedly does not want to sign a peace agreement.

This was reported by [Komersant], citing his interview with NBC News.

During the phone interview, the topic of easing sanctions against Russia to stabilize oil prices was raised. However, when asked about criticism from some foreign leaders regarding the lifting of sanctions, Trump did not answer directly and instead spoke about Zelenskyy.

According to him, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin wants a peace deal, while the Ukrainian leader allegedly does not.

“I’m surprised that Zelenskyy doesn’t want to make a deal. Tell Zelenskyy to make a deal, because Putin is ready for a deal… It’s much harder to negotiate with Zelenskyy,” Trump said.

Peace talks

As a reminder, Donald Trump recently stated once again that it is Volodymyr Zelenskyy who is allegedly preventing a peace agreement from being reached. He claims that Ukraine is rapidly losing its bargaining position, while the Kremlin is allegedly ready for dialogue.

At the same time, Volodymyr Zelenskyy himself has said that Ukraine needs peace with Putin regardless of his personal animosity toward him. He emphasized that this is a concrete agreement that makes life possible.

It should be noted that since the beginning of the year, Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia have already held three rounds of peace talks. The fourth round—which was almost the final one—was supposed to take place in late February or early March, but it has been postponed due to the war in the Middle East. According to Zelenskyy’s latest statement, the U.S. proposed holding the talks in America, but Russia refused, suggesting Turkey or Switzerland instead.
