One step away from disaster: near Zaporizhia, there is an urgent need to evacuate a herd of 278 cattle

Today, Ukrainian animal husbandry is experiencing the most difficult times in its modern history. But there are situations that require not just sympathy, but immediate action. Near Zaporizhia, just seven kilometers from the regional center, a farm is in critical condition. Constant tension and proximity to the combat zone have exhausted human resources: the staff is no longer able to work, and the animals need a safe shelter.

This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing a Facebook post by Serhiy Dovgy.

Genetic pool under threat

The farm in question is not just a farm, but a serious asset with high-quality livestock. Currently, the total number of animals is 278, of which 91 are dairy cows.

The farm’s productivity figures are impressive even to experienced farmers:

  • Daily milk yield: 2,190 liters (an average of 24.1 liters per cow).
  • Milk quality: extremely high indicators — fat 4.62%, protein 3.32%.
  • Breed composition: a true collection of productive genetics — Holstein, Red Danish, Jersey, Ayrshire, and even Belgian Blue breeds.

All livestock, including young stock, heifers, and bulls, are strictly accounted for. The farm has established twice-daily milking (milk pipeline) and uses both tethered and untethered housing.

What is needed now?

The owners and staff are at an impasse. The question is stark: either relocation or a complete sale of the herd to avoid a humanitarian disaster at a single enterprise.

The farm is urgently looking for:

  1. Premises for rent: the opportunity to transport the entire herd to safer regions to continue operations.
  2. Buyers: those who are willing to buy part of the herd or the entire farm.
  3. Investors and partners: people who can support the business at this critical moment.

Appeal to the agricultural community

“This is not just a business decision, it is a matter of saving people and animals,” says Serhiy Dovgyi. Each cow in this herd is the result of many years of selection and work. Losing such potential now means further weakening the region’s food security.

If you are looking for opportunities to expand your own farm or have free space for rent, this is your chance to get highly productive livestock and save a Ukrainian farm from destruction.
