In the first three months of 2026, Ukraine’s imports exceeded exports by more than double

Ukraine’s trade turnover for January–March 2026 amounted to $33.5 billion. During the reporting period, imports of goods into Ukraine totaled $23.4 billion, while exports amounted to $10.1 billion.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing a statement from the State Customs Service.

Taxed imports amounted to $16.2 billion, or 69% of the total volume of imported goods. The average tax burden per 1 kg of taxed imports was $0.54.

The largest import volumes during this period came from China—$6.3 billion, Poland—$2.2 billion, and Turkey—$1.6 billion.

The main destinations for exports from Ukraine were Poland ($1.1 billion), Turkey ($840 million), and Germany ($659 million).

Three key categories of goods accounted for 71% of imports: machinery, equipment, and transportation ($9.5 billion), fuel and energy products ($3.8 billion), and chemical industry products ($3.4 billion).

During customs clearance of these product groups, UAH 53.9 billion (machinery and transport), UAH 77.3 billion (fuel and energy products), and UAH 28.2 billion (chemical products) were remitted to the budget, accounting for 26%, 37%, and 13% of customs revenue, respectively.

The top three export categories included food products—$6.3 billion, metals and metal products—$929 million, and machinery, equipment, and transport—$848 million.

In the first three months of 2026, revenue from export duties on goods amounted to 509.5 million UAH.
